I have one deck sleeved up with some, and I love them.

The Katana boxes hold about 50 sleeved cards, but can fit 60 if you try hard enough.īoth are great, I use mostly DS, but that’s because my LGS almost never gets to stock Katanas. The box also looks nice and the cardboard is slightly more durable than the cardboard used in the Katana sleeve boxes. The box that comes with dragon shield sleeves is larger and can hold about 75 sleeved cards or almost twice that many unsleeved cards. That’s about it! Sorry for the later response, hopefully you find this information useful. Cards also sit slightly lower in the Dragon Shield sleeves, whereas they appear to more centered in the Katana Sleeves.Īltogether, I think the Dragon Shield Matte sleeves are better, for a these reasons:Īlthough slightly worse, in my opinion, here are some pros and cons about the Katana sleeves. The Katana sleeves have a slightly tighter fit than the Dragon Shield sleeves do, although the difference is very slight and not noticeable, but does make double sleeving easier with the Dragon Shield sleeves. This is normal, and occurs with every card sleeve brand I have tested. Over time, shuffling the sleeved cards will cause small scratches in the outside surface of the sleeve, although this is only noticeable in moderate to low-light conditions, and only slightly so. I have not been able to split or tear any sleeves. From my experience, both brands are incredibly durable. The Katana sleeves don’t have this feature, and appear to more quickly become dirty. This makes the Dragon Shield sleeves appear cleaner as they age. I own the clear colors of each sleeve, and the Dragon Shield sleeves have a slightly blueish tint that counteracts the natural yellow-brown color caused by fine particles dust and dirt absorbing into the plastic over time. Altogether, I think the matte texture is a very nice touch, and I prefer it. The matte texture also allows you to identify to front and back of a card just by feeling it. The Dragon Shield sleeves aren’t reversible like the Katana sleeves are, but if you keep your sleeves well organized, this doesn’t really matter. It isn’t super noticeable however, and it does require that you sleeve cards facing the same direction. The matte texture, in my opinion, is a nice bonus. The Dragon Shield sleeves last a lot longer than the Katana sleeves do, and they even come with two extra sleeves in the box in case you break or lose any. The Katana Sleeves have an amazingly satisfying shuffle feel, but the Dragon Shield Matte sleeves shuffle very well also. r/magicTCG is not produced, endorsed, supported by, or affiliated with Wizards of the Coast.
